Climate Aims

The Fund aims to contribute to global efforts to achieve a 100 per cent renewable energy economy and reduce the risks of runaway climate change.

This aligns with the Paris Accord’s upper limit of global temperatures at 1.5 to two degrees centigrade above pre-industrial levels and the need to reduce CO2 parts per million from their current 410 level to a 350 level.

One for the Climate

Funding

The Fund links German-based and Southern African savings and investments for sustainable funding, with a view to financing small-scale, independent renewable energy units.

The projects we fund must be commercially viable and sustainable in their own right.

Focus

The Fund has a particular interest in supporting self-sustaining renewable energy projects that are focused on delivering affordable power to under-serviced markets in Southern Africa.
